ECE (Early Childhood Education) Teacher Aid

Position Overview
As an integral member of the academic support team, the primary responsibility of a teacher aide (TA) will be to assist classroom teachers in effective instruction which supports pilotED’s academic model of holistic education. The ECE Teacher Aide will be expected to improve cultural and academic outcomes for all students through close collaboration with the classroom teacher. The ECE TA reports directly to the ECE Director while working closely with classroom teachers.
Roles/Responsibilities
Instruction
- Support a safe and respectful classroom culture through effective classroom management and positive behavior techniques;
- Lead small group and center activities with students;
- Work cooperatively with grade-level teammates and administrators to monitor and adjust instructional and behavioral programming;
- Act as substitute in the event of classroom teacher absences.
Non-Instructional Support
- Supervise students during non-instructional time (recess, lunch);
- Support the administration of school-wide and state-mandated assessments;
- Attend and participate in all professional development opportunities;
- Support the school community through participation in community events, after-school programming, field trips and/or civic engagement opportunities.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements
- High school diploma/GED required;
- Associate’s Degree (or equivalent) or Indiana Paraprofessional License preferred;
- Ability to attend annual summer off-site professional development;
- Understanding of state and federal requirements specific to your position;
- Ability to assess grade level needs in order to plan and organize accordingly;
- Strong written and oral communication skills;
- Strong ability to work with flexibility;
- Excellent organization skills and consistency in meeting deadlines;
- Strong interpersonal and team building skills;
- Experience working in urban environments;
- Knowledge of pedagogy and experience teaching strategies to support all learners;
- Microsoft Office and Google Suite proficiency;
- Language: English proficiency required; bilingual in Spanish preferred;
- Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus;
