Academic Interventionist // Teaching Assistant

As an integral member of the academic support team, the primary responsibility of an Academic Interventionist + Lab Assistant will be to provide targeted small group interventions while monitoring and managing students in the computer lab, assist school-wide academic projects, and provide flexible support for the school as needed. The Academic Interventionist + Lab Assistant will be accountable for enhancing the academic outcomes of students through targeted instruction, while supporting a safe and respectful climate within the computer lab. The Academic Interventionist + Lab Assistant reports directly to the Assistant Principal.
Manage and monitor students in the computer lab while providing targeted small group interventions;
Create and maintain an organized, clean, and joyful space for students to work in while in the computer lab;
Provide daily live ELA and math lessons on Zoom for virtual students;
Plan and deliver targeted small group lessons, utilizing NWEA scores, and ELA and Mathematics standards;
Collaborate with administrators and teachers to collect and analyze classroom assessment data and create leveled groups of students for small group instruction;
Support a safe and respectful computer lab culture through effective classroom management and positive behavior techniques;
Work cooperatively with grade-level teammates and administrators to monitor and adjust instructional and behavioral programming;
Flex as substitute in the event of classroom teacher or teaching assistants absences.
Supervise students during non-instructional time as needed (recess, lunch);
Support the administration of school-wide and state-mandated assessments;
Attend and participate in all professional development opportunities;
Support school community through participation in community events, after-school programming, field trips and/or civic engagement opportunities.

Associate’s Degree (or equivalent) or Indiana Paraprofessional License preferred;
Indiana Substitute Permit (by start of academic school year) preferred;
Ability to attend annual summer off-site professional development;
Understanding of state and federal requirements specific to your position;
Ability to assess grade level needs in order to plan and organize accordingly;
Strong written and oral communication skills;
Strong ability to work with flexibility;
Excellent organization skills and consistency in meeting deadlines;
Strong interpersonal and team building skills;
Experience working in urban environments;
Knowledge of pedagogy and experience teaching strategies to support all learners;
Microsoft Office and Google Suite proficiency;
Language: English proficiency required; bilingual in Spanish preferred;
Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus;
